Ed Jackson is a graduate of the renowned New England Conservatory of Music where he received the Selmer Company Award for Outstanding Saxophonist. He is an accomplished saxophonist and an active player on the NY jazz scene. Jackson's dynamic sound encompasses both the tradition and future of jazz. His versatility enables him to move within the various styles of jazz while at the same time maintaining a unique sound and direction. Ed Jackson's wide range of styles is evident in the musicians he has worked and recorded with: Roy Haynes, The Fatback Band, Melba Moore, T.S. Monk, Illinois Jacquet, Weldon Irvine, The Count Basie Band, Donald Blackman, Bernard Wright, Jaki Byard, Ran Blake, Sam Rivers and Tom Varner. He is also the founder of the world renowned 29th Street Saxophone Quartet, an internationally acclaimed group he has extensively recorded and toured with. He also leads the Ed Jackson Quartet, which can be found performing regularly at his own Jazz Club - Jackson Room, located in NYC.
