Ultravox formed in the early 1970's with original front man John Foxx but it wasn't until 1980 that they broke through to the mainstream success with new vocalist Midge Ure and new label Chrysalis Records. Vienna was co-produced by legendary German producer Conny Plank (Kraftwerk, Can, Brian Eno) at Mickie Most's RAK Studios in London and changed their style to a more commercial sound. The album yielded the classic worldwide hit single, and groundbreaking video, 'Vienna' along with three further singles 'All Stood Still', 'Passing Strangers' and 'Sleepwalk'. 'Vienna' is an enduring album which is still name checked as an influence on many of today's currently electronica artists.
