German fairy tales of the Brothers GrimmThe fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm ( children's and house fairy tales or KHM) are an important part of German-speaking culture. Fairy tales from the collection of the Brothers Grimm have been translated into many languages and are also known far beyond the German cultural sphere. Hardly any child grew up without Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm's fairy tales, that the two brothers did a lot more in their lives than collect fairy tales from the German folk estate, in contrast to Little Red Riding Hood or Snow White, only few know. Jakob Grimm was born in Hanau in 1785, his brother Wilhelm Grimm followed a year later. Her father was a lawyer with civil servant status. From 1829 and 1839 they were professors for literature and linguistics in Kassel. Here we present a selection of the most beautiful fairy tales collected by the Brothers Grimm at the beginning of the 19th century. Source: Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm: Children's and Household Tales
