What is Slitherlink and how to solve it?

The Slitherlink puzzle is a visual logic puzzle that is played on a lattice of dots with numbers inside. The goal is to connect the dots with lines in such a way, that we form one single continuous closed loop. The numbers are clues, which indicate how many lines surround it. An empty cell can be surrounded by any number of lines. You can only connect dots, which are adjacent horizontally or vertically. No diagonal lines are allowed and no crossing between the lines.
