Chicago in 1946 was in the midst of the Great Migration from the South to the North. These 'Newcomers' came loaded down with everything they possessed, arriving by train in the Chicago of Bronzeville. Most stepped off the Illinois Central Train. On the surface these new emigrants carried dreams free from Jim Crow laws. Many were welcomed by long list relatives still others made family out of strangers and necessity. One man made all things possible and profitable, Scipio Pennybaker. By far his most lucrative position in Chicago was being the head of the biggest Policy Gambling operation in south Chicago. Pennybaker finds his kingdom threatened. A Chicag rival wants his territory and where. Dead white men start turning up brutally murdered in his backyard, Bronzeville, he"s caught off guard. As someone born and raised in Chicago he finds the need to sort through the lives if the newcomers burgeoning community. For answers he turns to his cousin, police detective Stonewall Madison. The two men join forces and find themselves looking at new enemies.
