I find it ironic that God chose to make the announcement of Jesus Christ to the shepherds. He decided that He wouldn't go to the king. He wouldn't go to those who had prestige in the palace. He wouldn't find someone who was of the royal order of Rome. He wouldn't find those who were of the aristocracy of the Hebrew church, and He didn't take the message to those who felt most worthy or most deserving. God went out into the field, and he found some shepherds. He didn't find just any shepherds. He found some shepherds that were shepherding sheep on the same hill where David grew up, in the Bethlehem hills.
