The Chiral Nucleon-nucleon Potential at Nnlo Order in R-space: Introduction to the Chiral Effective Field Theory
Hironori Shimoyama
The purpose of this manuscript is to construct a nucleon-nucleon (NN) potential based upon effective field theory in configuration space (r-space). The scheme follows a philosophy of standard model. Chiral Perturbation Theory is the specific name of the method. The two-nucleon potential drived from the theory is called the chiral NN potential. Such potentials in momentum space have been constructed by other researchers. However, many microscopic nuclear structure calculations are conducted in configuration space. For this purpose, an NN potential represented in r-space is needed. The previous chiral r-space potential is proposed by C. Ordones, L. Ray, and U van Kolck (1996). However, the potential lacks quantitative accuracy, and therefore not suitable for nuclear structure calculations. Thus, it is important to seek more quantitative chiral r-space NN potential. This research shows the basic frame work and some technical details for the construction of such a potential.
