Daniel in the Fog

When Daniel wakes up unusually early one very foggy morning, he discovers a mysterious cloudy staircase rising through the fog. What would it be like to be in the middle of a cloud? He climbs the staircase. At the top, he meets some talkative birds, builds a fog boat, and floats away over the top of the clouds. When he finally wants to go home, a friendly wind, and a statue on top of the Nebraska State Capitol building help him find his way. Was it all a dream?
