This unique book draws together over 100 Irish poets with poems responding to the work of Giacomo Leopardi who was born in Italy in 1798. The book includes a selection of Leopardi's major poems in Italian with facing translations by Eamon Grennan; there is an introduction, a reprinting of the first two critical responses in Ireland to Leopardi's work, an analysis of John Millington Synge's response to Leopardi, and an afterword by Cormac O Cuilleanain.
