Elliott and Elektra Terry are on their second mission, which begins in Conneaut, Ohio, and then takes them to St. Augustine, Florida. While Elliott is being treated for frostbite, they are haunted by the connection between a dieing woman, a sassy girl and her vicious dog, and the ever-stalking presence of the Nephilim. Their mission is sketchy: Renatta must get this doll (which has a hidden message) after he is out of surgery. The picture of Renatta is definitely that of a female, so, who is the 'he'? Before the mystery unfolds, the Terrys go from a well-planned explosion in a hospital to a strange illness that afflicts only certain passengers on Amtrak. They've been given a mission with Renatta, so why do their paths continually keep crossing with Becca Stone and her best friend Avis? Elliott and Elektra are not surprised when they discover that Avis is running from the Nephilim as well, and that her life depends on their assistance. It becomes a new kind of spiritual warfare when Becca's husband, Detective Kevin Stone, is brutally assaulted and left for dead. Renatta gets the doll, but who is the strange woman that looks more like the witch out of a fairytale? Once again, Elliott and Elektra must put their faith into action to unravel the mysteries of spiritual warfare.
