The newcomers assumed supremacy, and their greed, along with the introduction of devastating illnesses, resulted in the near annihilation of the Indian Nation. In spite of such an uncomfortable atmosphere, some friendships prevailed. The treatment of the naturals of North America will forever be a mark of shame on those who confiscated their land and damaged the culture of a proud people.
