Lost Atoll

LOST ATOLL is an imaginative story set in the colorful island world of the North Pacific Ocean, known as Micronesia. The suspense will keep the pages turning as the main characters discover their plight. The dramatics run from tears to laughter as the suspense deepens into a true-to-life storyline.

A recent genealogy study reveals that Charlie Lopez has an unknown grandfather called, Marine Cpl James T. Slattery. The War Dept. reported him missing-in-action (M. I. A.) during the invasion of Saipan in 1944. Along with this, another baffling discovery deepens the mystery: Charlie has reason to suspect that this Corporal could still be among the living fifty years after the war had ended. Charlie. The last living Lopez, steps off the plane in Saipan. He is set on bringing this mystery surrounding his grandfather to a close: is this Marine still alive or not? Charlie takes passage on a small island trader headed for the Carolines with a group of anthropologists. The team of scientists is set on discovering the whereabouts of Lost Atoll, the ancient refuge of the oppressed peoples of Oceania. Charlie becomes captivated by the Navigators of the Shell who employ stick-charts, navigation chants, sea birds, and moonsets to re-discover the Saipan door of the ancient society. Add to this, a lady friend from Charlie's childhood who tracks her man down from halfway around the world and a romance is reborn. When these sub-plots collide, the veil of mystery lifts revealing conflicting agendas and a impending danger of massive proportions. The story of Lost Atoll must be protected to maintain the secret of an ancient ocean people.
