The bionomical study is important for the successful management and conservation of a natural population. The research carried out the significant relationship among different body length parameters and seasonal growth curves to asses the growth variation of the population of Notopterus notopterus. The species showed female dominating distribution including homogeneity in yearly distribution. The condition factors showed variation in growth patterns indicating gradual development of gonad in relation to the sexual cycle. The fish is carnivore and feeds on a large variety of food items. The gonads are found unpaired having short ducts which originate from the left abdominal cavity beside the alimentary canal and bellow the kidney. The breeding period extend from May to September. The fish is able to breed naturally, even in stagnant water of carp polyculture system. The sandy-loam soil of the pond, submerged vegetation and suitable water quality enhanced the breeding process of the fish. The findings of the work will play vital role in production and conservation of the species.
