The advancement of Information and Communication Technologies in the past two decades has created a significant change in the delivery of education services by educational institutions. The learners are presented with what is known as e-learning system, where education is delivered online on a mass scale. The goal was to free individual learners from the constraints of traditional in-campus educational systems where one had to physically attend lectures at a stipulated time. "Semantic e-learning system: theory, implementation and applications" provides different aspects of e-learning systems and services and systematically demonstrates how the semantic technologies can be used to improve the learning experience of the learners. It demonstrates that semantic e-learning system is a reality and not a myth.
