Many coding books are written to be one-part learning tool and one-part reference. This is not that type of book. For HTML, there is little need for a reference book. Mozilla's HTML reference provides great documentation on every feature of HTML. If you already know HTML, but can't remember how to use a specific tag or attribute, the Mozilla reference will provide what you need.

This book is meant for people who are new to HTML, and who want hands-on practical experience. You should begin at the beginning. HTML is the first tool you need in your web development tool kit.

When reading this book, you should be sitting at your computer. When you first begin, plan to spend at least two uninterrupted hours. You should do your best to get through lesson 3 in the first sitting. That will get you through the foundational learning. From there on out, you'll be hopping back and forth between the book and viewing, editing, and writing web pages on your computer. Go through the book slowly and methodically. Read every demo carefully. Work through every exercise. You cannot learn to code through reading alone. You must practice.

HTML is the first step of your journey. Begin at the beginning. And then, when you have finished, we are confident that you will feel that you really know HTML. But you will also know that HTML is just the beginning. So, when you come to the end: keep going.

"At AcademyX, we have used Webucator courseware for years. I am excited to see this HTML course come out in book format, so that individual learners can benefit from the same fantastic training material corporate clients have been getting for years."
