It's All About the Angels in the Backfield

In our book, All About the 'A', Faith, Family, Football and Forever to Thee, Benji and I did our best to document traditional Abbeville Panthers football and its 100 years of amazing history. We researched everything available and interviewed as many people as possible to capture the essence of the game, the players, the coaches, cheerleaders and fans, the seasons, the ups and the downs of what makes Atown football what it is today. We apologize for any missed opportunities to include every single nugget and if we skewed any facts. We did the best we could in our nine months to bring the story to life. We learned plenty about our town and its rich history of football. Sure, we stumbled here and there but, in the end, we are proud as any parents in the baby we birthed. This version of Panther football is a tad different than its predecessor. While it picks up where the last book ended, preparing for the 2017 football season and follows the Panthers through the 2018 season, it comes with a fictional twist. To make this a fun read, we've blended a bit of make belief with the facts and history that we hope will put a smile on your face, while not offending any diehard fans. The journey is real as documented by Benji. The characters and subplots along the way are straight out of the twisted mind of ole T. Allen. Think of this one as A Christmas Carol on steroids, loaded with hidden spiritual premonitions, my bud, Benji as the main character, dealing with something both confusing and confounding. Ultimately though, the fairytale ending is real, the Panthers doing what they do best, winning state championships. Buckle up and prepare for a fun filled look at Abbeville Panther Football and the iconic figures that have left haunting impressions on us, the devout and loyal fans, the parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, sisters and brothers who love those kids sporting the garnet and gold and have an undying respect for the coaches who mentor them.
