A Habit of Hiding

"A Habit of Hiding" unfolds in a cleverly disguised location behind a scattering of buttes near the Badlands of western South Dakota. When her father witnesses a mob murder in Chicago, seventeen year old Abby is suddenly whisked from all things familiar and deposited in this sparsely populated area for her safety. She discovers a very different way of life from the only one familiar to her. These resourceful women she now must live with play by their own rules. Neighboring ranchers only see this institution as a secluded religious enclave, while in reality it conceals conspiratorial behavior among its ascetic members. The matriarch of this group has her own secret which portrays a strength of character unique to these women. Sisters, Native Americans, and crime are woven together in a plot of deception.
