Originally from LaSalle, Illinois, he relocated to South Korea in 1990 where he nurtured a love for spicy Korean food, Buddhist temples, and East Asian History. His work has appeared in numerous journals and magazines, including A-Minor Magazine, Boston Literary Magazine, Eunoia Review, Full of Crow, Grey Sparrow Journal, Short, Fast, and Deadly, Thunderclap and the Toasted Cheese Literary Journal. He is the author of six books including War Remains a Korean War Novel, Ice Cream Headache, and Waking Up in the Land of the Morning Calm. He divides his time between South Korea and Laos, where his wife Aon, and three sons Bia, Jeremy Aaron, and Joseph reside.
