Are You Fat?
Phil Moore
Poetry Collection Embracing the Beauty of Plus-Sized Women Though a huge number of Americans are overweight, a social stigma remains for big women. Poet Phil Moore seeks to remove this stigma with his collection of poems, Are You Fat? Written to inspire and uplift plus-size women, Moore's poetry reminds big women that they are "beautiful, sexy, fantastic, attractive and terrific human beings!" The poems are also aimed at men who deny their preference for plus-sized women or have yet to see the beauty in them. Moore's message is clear: women should be proud of their bodies, and men should be proud to love women, no matter their size. "Plus-size women need to know they are just as beautiful, sexy and desirable as thin women," he says. "There are a lot of men who admire the plus-size woman, and they need to know that there is no shame in being attracted to or being in love with a fat lady. Society needs to know that the way they have been treating and discriminating against fat people is wrong, causes a lot of emotional pain and is unacceptable.
