Rand's debut published work is a hard one to swallow. At least it was when it was originally published, it is much easier to digest these days. Mathew Kane mixes HST-style Gonzo writing with an academic essay flair while examining Rand's work, yet still treating the text with reverence. Kane's ultimate achievement, though, is bringing the work into context with a post-pandemic society.
