Breaking the Chain depicts the struggles of five mulatto as they work through their relationships with each other and with the citizens of Cross Town, Georgia.
This fictional novel focuses on the Jackson women and how they, as individuals and as a unit, deal with many of their problems--including racial prejudice, socioeconomic disadvantages, molestation, infidelity, and death. Breaking the Chain gives a vivid and descriptive glimpse into the lives of these women as they attempt to preserve the chain that binds them.
Breaking the Chain has been adapted into a stage play entitled Broken Promises.
